Update - Massachusetts Enacts Final Regulations To Implement Chapter 111N, 'Pharmaceutical And Medical Device Manufacturer Conduct' Law.

On March 11, 2009, the Public Health Council of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health ("the Department") approved final regulations to implement the new Massachusetts law, which is the strictest in the nation, regulating interactions between pharmaceutical and medical device companies, and healthcare practitioners. Chapter 111N became effective on January 1, 2009, and the final regulations are now in effect as well. While not enthusiastically supported by industry groups or some providers, the final regulations are a significant improvement over the draft regulations that had been under consideration since January.
